ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Under the direction of the Director, assists in developing menu plans for the school based on nutritional adequacy, budgetary constraints, and federal standards and customer acceptance.General knowledge of the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in large quantities.Ability to supervise the work of others.Provides information necessary for analysis of menu choices to Director upon request.Develops employee daily work load, defining specific tasks for each employee.Implements training programs for food service personnel.Assists the Director of Food Services with development and implementation of standards, methods and procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage and distribution of food, supplies and equipment; food preparation, service and sanitation; personnel training; and financial reporting.Implements and monitors compliance with approved receiving, storage, distribution and inventory procedures of all food and supplies.Assists in monitoring the shipping schedule of food and supplies.Maintains records on USDA Foods including pack dates, distribution to other schools within the district, and all recalls and holds initiated by USDA. Oversees all destruction of USDA Food products as necessary in compliance with USDA regulations.Coordinates and controls compliance with proper procedures for recording and reporting of meal counts. Trains and reviews staff on procedures as required by federal regulations. Trains and reviews staff on operating Masiac software for lunch counting.Assist the Director in maintaining accurate time cards and associated requests for time off, reports of injury, when applicable.Displays Health Inspection from Town SanitarianMaintains book of labels and product formulation sheets to provide adequate information for allergens for any student or parent seeking ingredient or nutrient count for items served at the school.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Sanitation and Safety
Maintains high standards of personal hygiene. Follows hand washing protocol. Adhere to dress code requirements (Clothing, shoes, hair restraint, mask, gloves, etc)Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment, follows guidelines to ensure compliance with sanitation requirements.Follows standard procedures for cleaning equipment; utensils and food preparation containers; plates, silverware, and serving containers; and work areas.Maintains a valid food service sanitation certificateOperates all equipment according to manufactures directions with emphasis given to safety guideline. Notifies manager or director of any malfunction, damage, or loss of equipment.Checks food warming equipment, ovens, microwaves, and milk service units to make sure equipment is empty before turning on. Ensures hot holding equipment, ovens, microwaves, and milk service units are empty and turned off before leaving for the day.Trains and reviews training of employees on the implementation of procedures to maintain health, sanitation, HACCP and safety standards.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY : Occasionally lifting, pulling or pushing during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities is required. The work requires frequent walking and standing.WORK ENVIRONMENT : Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent.QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED.
12 Hours of annual training required
EXPERIENCE
Food Service (1-3 years supervisory experience)
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Upholds organizational mission, vision, and values.Exhibits sound and accurate judgement; and includes the appropriate people in decision-making processes.Proficient with math computation and analytical processing of data and information.Excellent communication skills both oral and written.Ability to independently and collaboratively organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the District.Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and understanding of "client-centered" support and service.
