The Joint Electronic Attack Compatibility Office (JEACO) of the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWC-WD), Pt. Mugu CA has an opening for a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Engineer. The software engineering work is for the Intrepid Tiger II (IT II) Family of Systems (FoS) Electronic Warfare (EW) pods that currently addresses communication threats. The JEACO IT II FoS systems provide adaptable, distributed, and networked electronic warfare capability for fixed wing and rotary wing USMC aircraft. A new IT II FoS variant is in development that will address radar threats.
This position is contingent upon customer approval
This position can be filled at either the Principal or Sr. Principal level:
Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant software design and development experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant software design and development or a PhD in a STEM related discipline or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of experience is required.
Java programming experience
Working knowledge of web services development utilizing LINUX, Java, XML, XSD, and DDS
Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements through test.
Must be a U.S. citizen and have interim secret clearance prior to starting. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineer Software Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant software design and development experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of relevant software design and development or a PhD in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant software design and development experience or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of experience is required.
Java programming experience
Working knowledge of web services development utilizing LINUX, Java, XML, XSD, and DDS
Must have experience with formal software life cycle development methodologies, requirements through test.
Must be a U.S. citizen and have interim secret clearance prior to starting. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
U.S. Secret or higher clearance
Experience with the Agile development methodology
Experience with Atlassian tool set (Jira, Confluence)
Experience with GitLab tool
Experience with open architecture standards and concepts
Experience with Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Warfare Support (ES), and Direction Finding
Experience troubleshooting at the system level (hardware and software)
Communication equipment experience
Radar equipment experience
Experience with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers
Candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a self-directed manner.
Salary Range:
$107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2:
$133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
