What You'll Get To Do:

Manager for Trade, Investment and Tax Policy will support the Government and Public Affairs office, on monitoring, developing strategy and lobbying focused primarily on domestic and international trade, tax and investment policy at the federal level.

Identify, track, and report on domestic and international policy issues impacting Panasonic and its US business units, including trade, tariffs, tax policy, restrictions on foreign investment, US-Japan relations, and Buy America, among others.

Support the development of policy positions and advocacy strategies to advance Panasonic’s broad strategic and business interests before the US Congress and the US Administration on tax, trade and international policy issues impacting Panasonic and its US business units.

Work with key trade associations to advance Panasonic’s priorities. These include Autos Drive America, Auto Innovators, NAM, Consumer Technology Association, Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association, Global Business Alliance, and others.

Work with government affairs staff and key internal stakeholders at Panasonic to build Panasonic’s network in the US Congress, and the U.S. administration (e.g. US Trade Representative, Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and State, and others).

Engage embassies, think tanks, and non-governmental organizations on international trade, investment, and tax issues.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

Basic Qualifications

No direct reports, but work closely with other GPA staff and business unit representatives

Up to 25% Travel

Education & Experience

:

Bachelor’s Degree required

5-7 years of experience in Capitol Hill, Executive Branch, or related corporate or trade association federal affairs experience

Experience in policy and political issues with a focus on tax and trade

Familiarity with House and Senate legislative processes, federal rulemaking, and political context

Competencies

:

Flexible - Ability to be flexible and take on assignments not directly related to portfolio

Collaborative – Ability to work as a team on shared issues

Nimble – Ability to work within a complex, global company

Communications

:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills – particularly writing and public speaking

Persuasive – Ability to build strong relationships, analyze complex issues, and be persuasive

Other Requirements

:

Residing in Washington, DC metropolitan area

Hybrid working environment with in-office requirements

Ability to travel and represent company in public forums

Ability to manage other duties as assigned

The wage range of $148,000 - $160,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
