Overview
The Dir, Medical Staff Operations supports management, executive leaders, and other stakeholders in providing a framework to facilitate processes to efficiently onboard and continuously maintain providers’ abilities to provide remarkable and highest quality care to the patients of NH. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives related to medical staff relations and operations across the NH system, for all acute care hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. The Director develops and maintains strong partnerships with leaders across the system, understanding their specific needs in relation to medical staff credentialing and privileging. In addition, this position develops, implements, and monitors compliance with standardized medical staff operations processes, including but not limited to continuous regulatory compliance, survey readiness, credentialing, privileging, and practitioner compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies. Collaborates with other stakeholders in the establishment of new acute care hospitals and stand-alone surgery centers, as well as the incorporation of new NH partnerships with existing facilities in relation to medical staff needs. Responsible for monitoring and recommendations for enhancements of ongoing and focused professional practice evaluation requirements.
Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree required. Bachelors/Graduate Degree preferred
Experience: 5 years Management experience required. 10+ yrs Medical Staff/ Credentialing Experience required.
Licensure/certification/registration: Medical Staff Services (CPMSM or CPCS) required. Dual certification preferred.
Additional skills preferred: strong typing and organization skills, as well as verbal, written and communication skills required. Strong leadership skills such as creativity, cooperation, independent judgment, ability to delegate and resolve conflicts, adaptability, perseverance, high energy level and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
Responsible for oversight of setting objectives, planning, staffing, and directing activities of Medical Staff Operations teams. Guide the development of the overall leadership structure and strategic plan, create goals and plans for quality and financial management of the medical staff operations team system wide.
Oversees the review and approval process of the initial credentialing and reappointment of physicians and advanced practice providers, maintenance of credentials files, assuring applicable meeting minutes conform to applicable regulatory standards.
Serves as an essential link between senior management and the Medical Staff to ensure adequate communication and ongoing flow of information between administration and the departments and committees of the Medical Staff. Maintains working knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules/Regulations and Bylaws on appointment, reappointment and clinical privileges.
Facilitates activities of Medical Staff members, emphasizing a commitment to customer satisfaction in meeting their needs.
Establishes and accomplishes goals and develops major job functions for the department.
Partners with facility/market Chief Clinical Officers and Vice President Clinical Affairs in establishing policies, procedures and processes as needed.
Responsible for outreach to clinic administrators and practice managers in efforts to educate on credentialing processes, address concerns, and facilitate resolution.
Coordinate ongoing leadership and professional development education for system-wide medical staff leaders.
Coaches and develops staff. Provides ongoing and annual feedback on performance including performance improvement plans.
Works with Sr. Director and Vice President to manage positions within the department to achieve quality and productivity and meet budget.
Models an understanding of Diversity and Inclusion.
Continuously improves core processes of the department
Effectively uses decision-making skills as appropriate to the situation. Utilizes the appropriate direct and/or matrix chain of command in decision-making.
Demonstrates knowledge of process improvement principles and applies appropriately to improvement activities.
