This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. GENERAL DUTIES

Performance of Venipuncture and Skin Puncture:- Performs venipuncture and skin puncture in accordance with department SOP.Workload Management:- Adheres to SOP in the use of handheld devices for specimen collection for patient.- Monitors collection list and document status of outstanding collections where specimens are not collected.Specimen Pick Up and Delivery:- Ensures that STAT specimens are delivered to the Lab within 15 minutes of collection or pick up.Specimen Handling and Receipt:- Ensures that specimens are updated to receive status, correct data is reflected in terms of collect date/time and receipt date/time.- Delivers to the appropriate Lab Section immediately upon receipt.Quality Assurance Related Duties:- Communicates complaints or problems to department supervisor.- Collects data for quality assurance program as outlined by department SOP or instruction by department supervisor.- Maintains thorough and neat documentation.Monitoring and Clearing the Not Received report:- Responsible for monitoring and clearing collection pending reports on a continuous basis.EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma/GED OR 2 years of applicable experience OR Phlebotomist Certification required.
