Your Job:

To manage general accounting and budgeting functions assigned by AVP MHS Accounting for Methodist Health System and supervise professional staff. To ensure that financial reporting needs assigned by the AVP MHS Accounting are met and that financial statements present fairly, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policy, the results of operations. To manage, analyze and account for all MHS Cash and Customer A/R related activities while also supporting the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

Education

Bachelor's degree with major in accounting.

Related Work Experience and Other Skills

Ability to work overtime as needed.

Computer literacy required (advanced Excel or similar spreadsheet capabilities).

Must be a team-oriented problem-solver

Must be able to analyze complex issues, identify relevant facts and communicate problematic resolution both verbally and in writing

Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to interface with a multidiscipline management staff.

Must have the aptitude to learn new computer system skills

PC based accounting experience preferred (Workday preferred)

Related budgeting experience preferred.

Previous management experience preferred

Hospital accounting experience preferred

Work Experience: 5 or more years related work experience

Ten key by touch

CPA Preferred

Job Roles

Prepare and approve all journal entries posted by Cash / Customer A/R accountant(s)

Oversee and supervise Cash / Customer AR staff including hiring, training and assigning tasks

Manage all Cash / Customer A/R accounting related problems and questions originating both from within MHS and from outside sources including management/audit of cash handling process for various MHS cash drawers

Collaborate with Treasury department and with bank(s) to resolve any issues that arise

Renew and review contracts related to Cash and Customer A/R

Manage all Cash / Customer A/R related balance sheet reconciliations, collaborate with Finance/CBO staff to assist with reconciliation issues and identify and communicate at risk findings

Provide documentation for and sign off on Cash / Customer A/R portion of quarterly financial statements

Manage completion of all bank reconciliations and collaborate with other finance team members to assist with timely clean-up of bank account reconciling items

Manage timely Customer A/R invoicing / collections and resolve missed payments

Monitor Customer A/R accounts and aging reports to identify problem accounts

Initiate effort to continuously improve efficient processing of Cash / Customer A/R functions in collaboration with other MHS departments and establish Cash / Customer A/R procedures

Provide various ad hoc reports as needed

Perform special projects as assigned.
