Salary: $26.78 - $38.02 Hourly Location : City of St. Cloud, FL Job Type: FULL-TIME Department: COMMUNICATIONS Division: COMMUNICATIONS Opening Date: 11/01/2024 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Description The City of St. Cloud, FL is looking for a social media specialist to bring fresh perspective to our Communications team. Who you are: You understand how to leverage social media to reach our residents. You are skilled at creating engaging short-format video and social media graphics to support City events and initiatives. This could include anything from promoting our holiday events, to explaining fee adjustments or infrastructure projects. You understand ADA requirements for government social media. You can juggle multiple tasks and priorities. You monitor social media, determine which comments and posts require a response, and respond appropriately. Who you'll work with: St. Cloud is a rapidly growing city, with a population close to 70,000. Our Communications team consists of a Director, a Senior Public Information Manager, and two Media Services Engineers. As a team, we support all 14 City departments, the City Manager, and City Council. We handle media relations, internal and external communications, AV production, videos, social media, and podcasts. During emergencies such as hurricanes or other disasters, we support the Emergency Operations Center and the county Joint Information Center. WORK HOURS: VARIES The anticipated start date for this position is January 1, 2025 Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Work with City departments to generate and schedule content to promote City events and activities. Produce professional-quality images, short-format video, and graphics to support City events and initiatives. Ability to quickly produce and edit content for social media. Maintain active presence for City on social media, ensuring we are the trusted source for information about what's happening at the City. Use standard measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of social media activity. Monitor and respond as appropriate to messages, comments, and questions on City pages and community pages. This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or other emergency duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Education Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Graphic Arts, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience working professionally with social media; government social media experience strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered. Experience Requirements Extensive knowledge of social media platforms Extensive knowledge of best practices for social media management Demonstrated experience editing video for social media Ability to plan, manage, and execute initiatives Time management, creativity, teamwork and the ability to meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to discern when to respond to social media comments and content, and how to respond appropriately Ability to use independent judgment, to work alone, and to work in a team Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines Ability to adapt to changing priorities Must possess a valid Florida Driver License. Must have strong writing, spelling, and grammar skills Ability to speak, translate, and write English Spanish is desirable but not required.
