Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a CNA Preceptor / Therapeutic Response Team Lead (Health Care Technician Lead / TRT Lead). The CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead serves as an educator, leader, role model, and mentor for unlicensed nursing staff at the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Nursing Supervision. CNA Preceptors / TRT Lead must collaborate with the Staff Development Department to assist with new employee orientation and leading select in-service training for clinical staff from throughout the facility. This role is instrumental in addressing episodes of challenging patient behavior proactively and therapeutically. The TRT will focus on using verbal de-escalation techniques and principles of trauma informed care, understanding both are essential to avoiding Emergency Restrictive Intervention (ERIs.) The primary goal is early, individualized interventions to assist patients experiencing emotional distress before the situation escalates to a behavioral crisis.
The CNA Preceptor / TRT Team Lead will:Be assigned throughout the hospital to patient care units and able to respond quickly when needed.Support the hospital's goals of providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.Act as additional resource dedicated to supporting unit-base staff members and promoting a safe work environment.Model, support and reinforce using therapeutic verbal de-escalation techniques and principles during episodes of challenging patient behaviors.The CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead will eventually report directly to the TRT Nurse Supervisor. The CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead must become certified as an instructor by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) within nine (9) months of hiring and maintain the certification while in the CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead position.The ideal candidate for the CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead position is professional, articulate, and has a thorough working knowledge of daily operations of the patient care units. They must illustrate the ability to effectively interact with employees representing a variety of disciplines, and a diverse patient population. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to identify and effectively articulate the educational needs of front-line nursing staff, then act as problem-solvers to help develop and implement trainings which meet the identified needs. The CNA Preceptor / TRT Lead must be self-motivated, have strong organization skills, and the ability to easily learn and navigate a variety of computer programs (Microsoft Office).
The normal working schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. However, flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts to meet facility needs is required. This position is designated
Mandatory
and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Please note this position is eligible for an additional active pay of 10% based on TRT membership.
