Job Description:
The Electrical Specialist is responsible for providing instrument and electrical expertise to the site. This position is to ensure proper design, change management, installation and repair of instruments and electrical equipment according to regulatory standards. This position will be the focal point for all changes involving, but not limited to motors, electrical tracing, switchgear, motor control centers/starters and transformers. Electrical Specialist will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations to understand needs and requirements and to provide a design and installation package. This position is responsible for Management of Change (MOC) for the site electrical systems, assisting with turnaround scope development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides electrical and instrument technical support for maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of site electrical equipment and associated systems.Assist in instituting new control systems.Research and develop better controls and electrical processes.Track and monitor reoccurring problems and provide solutions to correct these problems.Identify weakness in the equipment related to electrical systems and develop solutions.Understand the technical functionality of electrical equipment and be able to train operators and maintenance technicians on the operations and troubleshooting of equipment.Assist maintenance personnel in maintaining an efficient production operation and all other duties as assigned by supervisor.Develop, audit, and improve electrical equipment PM program to ensure the health and effectiveness of the systems based on equipment failures, process changes to maintain electrical equipment/systems.Participates and/or leads in the investigation and follow-up documentation of incidents.Works with operating and maintenance engineers to make recommendations to improve long term equipment operability, reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance expense.Assist with the site's bad actor program. Identify the site's bad actors based on a combination of production loss and failure frequency. Drive the organization to find true root cause and effective mitigations to systematically eliminate bad actors.Ensure projects are designed for maintainability and reliability.Assist in setting up of spare parts as required.Provide capital and expense project ideas based on reliability analysis and feedback from operations and other site personnel.Provide early input on project maintainability and reliability considerations to ensure major scope is not missed during project development.Provide capital investment and expense project ideas based on reliability analysis and feedback from operations and other site personnel. Provide support as a facilitator for problem analysis, risk assessment, root cause analysis, etc.For very critical equipment failures where the failure root cause is not well understood or there are multiple options for resolution without a clear leading option.EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE Expectations:
Electrical Engineering DegreeIndustrial electrical experience, extensive schematic reading capability, PLC coding/troubleshooting.Trained on NFPA 70E5 years of related experience
