Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Technical Communicator in Salem, Virginia at our corporate headquarters.The Technical Communicator is responsible for providing technical support to all internal parts and service departments, serving as a product liaison between Carter Machinery and Caterpillar, and the internal go-to resource for Carter personnel.In addition, the Technical Communicator supports external customer technical support needs through CarterAssist platforms. Seeking candidates with in-depth industry product knowledge and experience. Caterpillar, or related equipment industry, service operations background preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
Requirements for the Technical Communicator position include:
Must be skilled in applied failure analysis and parts reusability decisions.Must be able to install and operate all diagnostic equipment for the products CMCo sells and services.Must have knowledge and understanding of all systems available to access service information for the products CMCo sells and services.Strong mechanical aptitude; able to explain technical issues and outline troubleshooting procedures.Capable of researching product issues and distributing service information to key personnel.Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work with competing demands, and develop action plans.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills.Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.Must be able to travel locally as required - must possess a valid drivers' license.Must be able to handle large volumes of work in fast-paced environment.Promote a positive customer experience.Uphold the Core Values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence and Teamwork by embracing The Carter Way.Physical requirements must be met for the Technical Communicator job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight.
