Overview:
The
Technical Communicator (TC)
maintains high standards of service excellence by providing technical support to technicians, managers, supervisors and customers.Working in conjunction with other TCs, the TC provides a comprehensive learning and development program for our Technician workforce that enhances knowledge, skills, and productivity. Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.Models and reinforces company policies/practices to ensure that work is performed in alignment with the companys mission, vision, and values and in collaboration with other functions.Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.Assists technicians in troubleshooting performance and operational problems on Caterpillar and Allied products.Assists technicians with diagnostics in the field if necessary.Uses GoToAssist to connect remotely to a technicians computer and aid in diagnostics.Uses Caterpillar and Allied product diagnostic software and Service Information System software effectively for diagnostic purposes.Uses the Dealer Solution Network regularly to communicate with Cat Product Analysts/Engineers by submitting Service Request tickets to aid in diagnosing problems.Works closely with Caterpillar on field follow machines Cat places in our territory for testing.Trained in AFA (Applied Failure Analysis) and analyzes failed parts/components to determine the root cause of a failure.Trained in Contamination Control and Cat qualified to perform CC Audits at our facilities.Uses the Product Problem Management system to work closely with Caterpillar Engineers to develop better products by keeping them informed of current machine problems.Occasionally provides specialized training and / or assists with special projects.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
5+ years experience as a heavy equipment technician.Knowledge of CAT product LineStrong problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.Ability to manage multiple ongoing issues at once in a fast paced, high urgency job role.Detail oriented documentation and recordkeeping abilities.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Good time management, planning and organizational skills; must be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.Proficient in the use of the Service Information System and Caterpillar Diagnostic software such as Electronic Technician, Service Technician Workbench, Payload Control System, etc.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is a plus.Working ConditionsThe physical environment requires the employee to work inside throughout the year.Willing to travel to assist in troubleshooting, attend training & conferences, etc.Position requires employee to be physically present at the job site location.Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
