Job description
The Welder is responsible general weld/grinding duties including:•Weld metal objects together according to blueprints or drawings and to make repairs on broken or defective metal parts using various welding techniques according to Jet Machine procedures•Perform all necessary tasks such as grinding, cleaning, etc. to prepare the weld joint•As required, cut stock material to size using a cut-off saw•As required, determine the proper weld method for the task, setting up welder and adjusting controls to achieve proper heat using company-supplied WPSs•Make repairs on machined parts (i.e. plugging a hole) after approval by authorized personnel•Check the quality of work and perform any necessary post weld operations such as heating to restore the squareness or flatness of parts affected by the welding process•Document all work performed by initializing and dating the shop floor router and utilizing ERP•Ensuring finished parts move to the next operation upon completion•Informing Weld Lead of any problems or improvements of the manufacturing process•Following all safety procedures including start up and shutdown of welding operations•Clean and maintain all welding equipment in good working order and keeping weld shop area clean•Other duties as assigned
JOB SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS•High School education or equivalent•Basic math and blue print reading skills including knowledge of standard welding symbols•Use of SDS sheets and basic weld safety knowledge•Must be able to perform GTAW, GMAW and SMAW welding•Certified to D1.1 and D1.2•Must be knowledgeable of operation and safety procedures for Oxy-Fuel cutting/heating equipment•Must pass a company administered weld certification test•5+ years welding experience preferred•Possession of personal basic hand tools is preferred•Qualified to weld various grades of stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steels with thickness up to 2.00 inches
Final hourly rate depends on qualifications.
