Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Senior Accountant with over 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the full cycle of accounting, with a particular focus on accounts receivable (AR), Job Cost and be comfortable working in a flexible smaller environment. The candidate must be self-driven, personable, and an effective communicator, as this role involves direct interaction with project managers, vendors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
General Ledger Management:
Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, reviewing entries for accuracy and consistency.
Month-end Close:
Lead month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations, and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct detailed financial analysis, identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and provide actionable insights to management.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, collaborating with department heads to align financial goals with strategic objectives.
Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits, provide documentation and support, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Process Improvement:
Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and systems, develop and implement solutions to streamline operations, enhance controls, and improve accuracy and efficiency.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial principles, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
