Senior Accountant with Financial Analyst Responsibilities Job Location:

Washington DC Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in financial analysis to join our dynamic Finance team. This hybrid role will involve a combination of traditional accounting responsibilities, such as month-end close and financial reporting, with a significant focus on financial planning, analysis, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Accounting Duties: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card accounts, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet accounts. Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, board members, and external auditors, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. Manage the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accuracy in the financial statements. Oversee the preparation of supporting schedules for tax filings, audits, and internal management reporting. Maintain fixed asset records and manage the depreciation schedules. Coordinate with internal and external auditors during annual audit reviews. Financial Analyst Duties: Prepare and analyze financial forecasts, budgets, and variance reports to support strategic decision-making. Develop financial models to evaluate business performance, new initiatives, and potential investments. Conduct cost analysis, trend analysis, and profitability analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance. Assist in the preparation of rolling financial forecasts and annual budgets, collaborating with department heads to gather necessary data. Prepare financial analysis and reports for senior management, highlighting key insights, risks, and opportunities. Monitor financial performance against budget and historical data, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop pricing strategies, assess product profitability, and optimize resource allocation. Other Responsibilities: Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special projects as needed. Review and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis. Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and accounting standards. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, promoting continuous learning and development. Act as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and operational teams to streamline financial processes and ensure timely delivery of information. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or CFA a plus). 4+ years of experience in accounting and financial analysis, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead accounting role. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles. Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
