Senior Data Scientist, Supply Chain (Technical Demand Planning)

Your Role on Our Team
The Senior Data Scientist of Supply Chain is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise in data science to enhance the demand planning process. This role focuses on designing and implementing advanced demand planning tools, leveraging internal and external data to improve forecast models, and automating processes to enhance the overall efficiency and accuracy of the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Enabling and Automating Demand Planning (40%)
Design, develop, and maintain advanced demand planning tools to enable the demand planning team to create accurate forecasts over a rolling 24-month horizon.
Perform ongoing analysis and monitoring of the performance of these tools, identifying significant variances, taking corrective actions, and documenting key assumptions.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, supply chain planning, and other stakeholders to ensure the tools meet their needs and achieve a consensus demand plan.
Support strategic initiatives to improve forecast quality and close identified gaps by enhancing the tools and methodologies used.
Implement and share best practices in demand planning tool development and usage.
System & Data Management (30%)
Implement data-driven solutions using Python (or other tools) and deploy them into production environments.
Perform data cleansing, exploratory data analysis, and data visualization to ensure high-quality inputs for forecasting models.
S&OP Process (20%)
Support the S&OP cycle by providing critical forecasting tools and distributing relevant forecast information to sales and supply chain planning for review.
Publish the consensus demand plan with clear explanations of forecast changes, key business drivers, risks, opportunities, and assumptions.
Develop solutions to connect the demand plan to the supply plan and optimize inventory
Analysis & Reporting (10%)
Provide timely and accurate responses to demand and forecast-related inquiries across the organization.
Develop critical planning tools, key reports, and provide analytical support to Senior Leadership for decision-making.
Complete special projects and ad-hoc requests as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in planning/forecasting, data science, or a combination thereof.
Demonstrated proficiency in statistical modeling, forecasting methods, and machine learning algorithms.
Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in training and deploying models into production.
Familiarity with Spark and parallel cloud computation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with data intelligence solutions including reports, dashboards, scorecards, and data visualizations.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Experience in manufacturing or similar industries is a plus.
Understanding of DevOps for CI/CD is a plus.
