WRRC MAUI CLIMATE DATA TECHNICIAN - ID# 224752. CLOSING DATE: November 11, 2024, or until filled. Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed two (2) years in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Research on Island Solutions for Adaptation (RISA), located in Maui. Telework (from employees residence city and state

within the United States) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $6,000 - $6,367/Mon.

DUTIES: Develops and implements GIS approaches to analyze climate change impacts on local communities. Maintains and troubleshoots Campbell Scientific weather stations across Maui. Installs station infrastructure. Assists with the setup and calibration of new stations. Uses GIS to analyze climate data and assess climate impacts on local communities. Manages data collection, analysis, and reporting, while maintaining relationships with stakeholders and community members. Addresses scientific questions and uses data to improve predictions. Coordinates and contributes to writing reports.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. EXPERIENCE One to three (1-3) years of experience in GIS or climate monitoring. Experience includes working with electronic equipment. KNOWLEDGE Strong knowledge of GIS or climate monitoring. ABILITIES and SKILLS Strong ability to learn quickly. Effective communication skills for collaborating with teams and stakeholders on water quality projects. Critical thinking skills. Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Familiarity with Mauis communities and local environmental conditions. Experience with climate change research or water resource monitoring in Hawaii.
