Summary Application Engineers work on a broad variety of applied engineering (Computer Aided Engineering - CAE) projects aligned to the needs of our software customers. In general, this work involves using one or more of software products to help solve customer's real-world problems or facilitate efficiency in the use of the software by our customers. The business objective for presales, is to team up with the Account Managers and get the technical wins that lead to business wins which ultimately ensures new business for Hexagon. All while assisting customers with their product development and being successful with their own business. As an Application Engineer, you will be provided training on the D&E Software portfolio. You will be provided training on doing software demos and assisting with customer evaluations or benchmarks. You will also be provided basic Sales training for customer facing engagements. You will have regular check-ins both planned and ad hoc with your engineering manager to ensure timely response to questions/issues and a steady and successful growth within the Hexagon organization. Potential Technical Focus Areas: Structural Analysis (linear & non-linear) Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) Fatigue Metal forming (including welding and additive) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Acoustics Potential Hexagon Software Products: MSC Nastran, Adams, Actran, Cradle, Simufact, Odyssee, Digimat, Dytran, Apex, Patran Job Responsibilities Familiar with all Hexagon D&E Software portfolio Intermediate to Advance knowledge to 3-4 assigned software product(s) Apply sound engineering theory to solution development Provide engineering proof to support the analytical results Develop scripts (as needed) to support problem statement or to support workflow efficiency Develop final report summarizing problem, solution and benefits Performs technical support activities in support of Sales efforts Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent. Graduate engineering degree preferred Minimum five years in engineering experience. Ten and above professional years in engineering experience preferred Knowledge of one or more of Hexagon software products preferred. Simufact, Cradle or Adams knowledge preferred Basic programming skills needed. Proficiency in Python programming preferred Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills for client liaison, proposal preparation, project planning, report writing, and presentation of results. Strong project management skills. Expertise in numerical simulation and Finite Element methods. Some experience with manufacturing simulation methods. Mentoring skills for less senior staff to provide solution advice and project guidance. May work on-site at client facilities with minimal supervision.
