Arepet Express, LLC is now hiring a Dispatcher to work in our McAllen, TX office. (This is not a remote position.)
Position Summary
Arepet Express, LLC provides transportation of sand for the oil field, which is a 24/7 service. The Dispatcher role is split into two 12-hour shifts, with 4 days on and 4 days off. The Dispatcher will act as the primary communication point for our drivers. The dispatcher will receive requests, transmit messages and track trucks. The dispatcher must be primarily an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed. The dispatcher must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Contact drivers to dispatch and deploy staff and vehicles based on orders received.
Schedule loads while utilizing and maximizing driver hours and loaded miles.
Prioritize orders according to urgency and importance; utilizing resources effectively to meet the priorities.
Must be able to anticipate change and/or problems and reallocate resources efficiently.
Manage and adjust forecasted loads based on customer needs.
Must be able to confidently make good decisions under time constraints and take accountability for those decisions.
Use effective listening skills to gather information and/or to identify potential problems. Escalate information when necessary to management.
Manage and track driver logs, tickets and other documents.
Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize driver schedule
Provide Drivers with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment
Must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and high level of accountability
Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as record-keeping and filing
Ability to work independently
Oil field experience preferred
Bilingual (Spanish) required
Knowledge of McLeod software preferred
Education and Experience
High School diploma, General Education degree (GED), or equivalent
Six months experience in transportation/trucking industry preferred
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and telephone.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be available to work weekends.
Must be available to work day and night shifts.
