Senior Cost Accountant
Job Summary:
We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant with over 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP software. This role is critical in managing and optimizing our cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate cost analysis, and supporting decision-making to enhance the company’s financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures to accurately reflect manufacturing costs.
Analyze production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend improvements to enhance profitability.
Conduct regular reviews of standard and actual costs, investigating variances and reporting findings.
Inventory Management:
Oversee inventory valuation, ensuring accurate costing of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
Coordinate with the production team to monitor and manage inventory levels, reduce waste, and optimize stock usage.
Perform periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Prepare detailed cost analysis reports, including cost of goods sold (COGS), product margins, and manufacturing variances.
Collaborate with the finance team to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
ERP System Management (Microsoft Dynamics 365):
Utilize Microsoft D365 for accurate recording and tracking of manufacturing costs.
Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize D365 functionalities related to cost accounting.
Provide training and support to other team members on D365 cost accounting modules.
Compliance & Auditing:
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP software, particularly in cost accounting and financial modules.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation.
Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
