The A.C. Coy Company is currently seeking candidates for a
Linux Systems Engineer
role. This individual will
be responsible for maintaining and optimizing a Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in system deployment, configuration, performance tuning, and hardware management, preferably with CentOS, Oracle Linux, or Red Hat Linux.

ResponsibilitiesLinux System Administration:
Expert-level administration of CentOS, Oracle Linux, and other Linux distributions
Configure, deploy, and manage systems via PXE booting and other network-based methods
Automate repetitive tasks using shell scripting, or other automation tools
System Performance & Tuning:
Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing tuning strategies
Perform regular system health checks, kernel tuning, and configuration optimizations for performance
Rack and Stack:
Physically rack, stack, and cable servers, network devices, and related hardware in the datacenter
Ensure proper cabling and network configuration for efficient system communication
OS & Application Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain OS-level applications and services
Troubleshoot and resolve application and system-related issues
Provide support for enterprise applications running on Linux environments
Infrastructure Management:
Work with IT and infrastructure teams to deploy new servers, storage, and networking equipment
Maintain hardware inventory and ensure optimal usage of physical resources
Security & Compliance:
Implement and manage security measures such as firewalls, SELinux, and regular patching
Ensure systems meet security and compliance requirements
QualificationsRequired:
5+ years of experience in Linux system administration, preferably with CentOS, Oracle Linux, or Red Hat Linux
Proficiency in Linux boot processes, including PXE booting
Hands-on experience with hardware, including server rack and stack operations; Able to interact in a data center
Strong knowledge of system performance tuning techniques, kernel configurations, and system health monitoring
Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and hardware troubleshooting
Willingness to work in a data center environment and perform physical tasks (lifting, cabling, etc.)
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Familiarity with Oracle Linux-specific tools and configurations
Exposure to a variety of Linux distributions
Experience with virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware) and cloud-based systems
Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience with VoIP and related platforms (kamailio, freeswitch)
