Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Instructional Support Assistant/Scheduler is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative services to our patient population.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties m ay include the following but are not limited to:

Responsible for daily scheduling of patients and exams for Radiology, Cardiology, and Vascular Lab using the hospital approved scheduling systems, Imagecast Scheduling and Cerner Enterprise Wide Scheduling systems (EWS).Obtain patient demographic and financial information regarding procedures.Responsible for obtaining necessary authorizations prior to procedures.Prepare daily list of procedure schedules and distribute appropriately.Monitor work flow and ensure proper scheduling coverage at all times in hospital.Assist with training of new staff regarding departmental procedures including Imagecast and Cerner EWSProvide statistical information as needed.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Associates degree and at least 2 years of medical office and/or hospital clerical and/or scheduling experience or, in lieu of a degree, at least 4 years of medical office and/or hospital clerical and/or scheduling experience. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Two or more years of Radiology experience.

Knowledge of hospital computer systems (Imagecast and Cerner EWS); knowledge of insurance; knowledge of managed care requirements.
