BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as system feature owner (Thermal) as part of the systems engineering competency at our Propulsion Technical Center (PTC) in Auburn Hills, MI.
PowerDrive Systems develops hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions and is looking for a systems engineer with technical knowledge in the area of thermal management of traction motor systems (power electronics, electric motors and gearbox).
Key Responsibilities
Planning – Develops, maintains and tracks the implementation of the feature roadmap
Leading – Drives a structured approach to the feature team. Defines clear tasks and actions.
Tracking – Uses dashboards and KPIs to monitor implementation progress.
Delivering – Takes ownership to deliver the work products associated with the role.
Requirements management – Negotiate, analyze, decompose and allocate system requirements to competencies.
Technical analysis – Design the system for your feature. Define the boundaries, architecture, functional impacts etc.
Work closely with the systems modeling team to drive a simulation-based approach
Mentor less experienced engineers; role model for BW Beliefs
Qualifications (Must haves)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related.
5+ years’ experience in an engineering field applying Systems Engineering principles throughout the product life cycle in an embedded software environment
Strong knowledge of thermal concepts and management of temperature for electronic and mechanical components
In depth knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management
Experience with Mathworks Matlab / Simulink for thermal simulation and data analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
Organized and structured work style and attention to detail
Qualifications (advantages)
Thermal analysis and management experience working with power electronics, electric motors and drivetrain systems.
INCOSE certifications - ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP
Master’s degree in systems, electrical, mechanical, or software engineering
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (Shainin or Six Sigma certification a plus)
Knowledge of or experience in multiple automotive engineering development areas (electrical, mechanical, test, software, controls etc)
Requirements management experience in Polarion
System analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, etc.
ASPICE and ISO 26262 experience
