Strategic Housing Finance Corporation of Travis County (SHFC) is a nonprofit that advances affordable housing by providing critical financing tools to multifamily rental developers. We have partnered to create over 5,500 affordable housing units across Travis County, with another 2,500 mixed-income units in the pipeline. A local Housing Finance Corporation, SHFC is governed by a board of directors appointed by the Travis County Commissioners' Court. SHFC has recently established operations independent of a long-time affiliate organization and is building a best-in-class housing finance agency.The Position
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, the
Operations Assistant
will ensure SHFC's ambitious agenda is supported by highest quality financial, administrative, and support services. The Operations Assistant will provide administrative support for the organization's financial, human resources, facilities, and information technology functions.Candidate Profile
Successful candidates will have 2+ years of experience in an administrative support role. A college degree is preferred, but not required if core competencies can be demonstrated.
Desired skills, experience, and expertise:
Financial Skills.
Proficient in supporting an organization's financial management, including processing accounts payable and receivable, supporting payroll, tracking organizational budgets, coordinating with third party accounting firms, assisting with the preparation of financial reports, following sound reporting and record-keeping standards, and supporting financial audits. Values attention to detail and accurate data entry. Experience in non-profit bookkeeping is preferred. Experience using Microsoft Excel and bookkeeping and payroll technology platforms.
Administrative and Operational Experience.
Demonstrated ability to handle an organization's day-to-day and administrative needs, including maintaining physical and electronic records, files, and databases, coordinating with vendors and contractors, ensuring office supplies and equipment are available and in good working order, and serving as a liaison with the office's property manager. Track record of providing administrative support to management and senior-level staff, including coordinating travel and special events
Human Resource Support.
Adept in assisting with the human resource needs of an organization, including supporting hiring, onboarding, employee benefits, and performance management processes.
Mission-Minded & Fiscally Responsible.
Committed to sound, responsible, and ethical fiscal administration of a mission-driven organization's resources.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Receivable : Under the supervision of the Director of Finance & Administration, follow policy and procedures to ensure SHFC's obligations are paid in full and on-time. Coordinate with SHFC's real estate team to track, collect, and record revenues.
Financial Reporting:
Maintain sound financial records for SHFC by coordinating with contracted third-party bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing firms, with special attention to accuracy and meeting deadlines. Provide support to the Director of Finance & Administration to compile financial reports for executive leadership and SHFC board of directors. Assist with the annual budgeting process and track budget-to-actual revenue and expenditures.
Human Resources:
Support SHFC's human resources needs, including assisting with hiring, coordinating onboarding, assisting with employee benefits, and adhering to best practices when handling confidential and/or sensitive employee information. Diligently and effectively process payroll. Assist the Director of Finance & Administration to coordinate professional development and performance management processes.
Office Management : Assist and facilitate engagement with third party vendors and office property managers. Ensure employees' technology and office supply needs are being met. Facilitate the planning and execution of company events and employee travel.Compensation & Benefits
Salary for this position is expected to be from $52,000 to $63,000, depending on experience and qualifications. SHFC offers an employee benefits package including paid time off, life insurance, a matched 401K program, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. SHFC staff enjoy a hybrid in-person and telecommuting schedule.
