Fort Huachuca, AZSummary:Applied Training Solutions (ATS) is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team, offering a pivotal role in managing IT and computing services across various stages of exercise preparation, execution, and post-exercise activities. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a preference for candidates possessing over 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, applicants with an Associate's Degree from a 2-year technical school and at least 7 years of experience are also encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of systems administration, including the maintenance, security, and optimization of hardware and software systems. Your role will involve performing end-to-end communications exercises (COMEX), ensuring all systems are cleared of previous exercise data, and participating in coordination meetings and After-Action Reviews to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness and effectiveness.
During exercise execution, your responsibilities will expand to include providing critical support for the operational mission and interests as required by the Government. This includes offering subject matter expertise for exercise control, data, and event integration across all Intelligence Warfighting Function disciplines, supporting students and Exercise Trainers by answering Intelligence Requests for Information (RFIs), and collaborating with Exercise Trainers to develop events that support learning objectives through "on-the-fly" message traffic. You will also provide vital simulation and synchronization support to Capstone exercises, stimulating C4ISR systems, ensuring timeline synchronization of scenario events, and generating supplementary scripted message traffic to support training requirements. Daily system operation checks and technical troubleshooting support will be an integral part of your role, requiring a detail-oriented and proactive approach to system administration.
Post-exercise responsibilities will include archiving data generated during exercises, providing constructive feedback in After Action Review meetings, and collaborating with Exercise Trainers to develop new threads of message ingestion and rectify any identified errors in existing message traffic. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining scenarios that are compliant with the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) approved by TRADOC, incorporating Opposing Force's (OPFOR) feedback into the After Action Review process, and updating scenarios to enhance the exercise environment realistically. Your expertise will also be called upon to assist users with system functionality issues during training and other mission-critical events, making this role essential to the success and continuous improvement of our training exercises.Job Duties:Under general supervision, responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
