Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Non-Profit Senior Accountant to add to our client's growing accounting department!
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in managing financial compliance, specifically related to grants and other non-profit funding sources. This role will support the organization’s mission by ensuring accurate financial reporting, general accounting duties, and compliance with grant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the organization’s accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Monitor and manage grant budgets, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and spent in compliance with grant requirements.
Work closely with program managers to track grant expenditures and ensure accurate reporting for funders.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual audit and other compliance reviews.
Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
Provide support and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
Demonstrated experience with grant compliance and financial management.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant regulations for non-profit organizations.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification or working towards CPA designation preferred but not required
Experience working with federal, state, or private grants.
