Title : Accounting ManagerClassification : Full-time (salary, exempt)Reports to : Chief Operating & Finance OfficerJob Summary : We are looking for a focused, industrious, and restoration-passionate accountant, who will play an integral role in managing and overseeing the daily financial operations of an organization with a budget of $6 million. This position will oversee the Staff Accountant and will work closely with the Human Resource Administrator as well as many other supportive and collaborative staff.About NRF:The Newport Restoration Foundation is a non-profit located in charming Newport, RI and was founded by philanthropist Doris Duke in 1968. It has preserved over 80, 18th and 19th century buildings on Aquidneck Island, that are leased through a stewardship program. It also operates a museum: Rough Point, the home of Doris Duke. .Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :Prepare and post monthly journal entriesReview biweekly payroll before processing and record payroll entryReview general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of postingAssist the Human Resources Administrator with benefit calculationsProvide reports as needed for the Development & Donor Relations ManagerMonitor accounts receivables, predominantly tenant receivables through a property management software packageReview accounts payables to ensure they have been properly codedSupervise full-time Staff AccountantReview the annual 1099’s for filingCoordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and projectionsAssist with annual financial and workers’ comp auditsProvide necessary information for the annual 990 tax returnMonitor and analyze financial accounting dataPrepare quarterly employer 401k distribution reports and annual 401k reconciliationsProcess biweekly payroll during absence of Human Resource AdministratorMonitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and resources while maintaining a high level of accuracyAssist with various human resources related projects as necessaryRespond to inquiries from the Chief Operating & Finance Officer regarding financial results, special reporting and the likeQualifications :Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field is preferredAt least 7 years of accounting experience, preferably 2 in non-profit accountingProficient in the use of QuickBooks desktop version and some familiarity of payroll softwareSuperior data management and data analysis skillsSound knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent knowledge of accounting principles and practicesGood judgement, with the ability to make timely and sound decisionsExercise discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive informationAbility to work independently, with little supervisionDriven, self-motivated, and goal orientedDetail-oriented with a passion for accuracy
