Description
Purpose/Scope:
To provide general construction labor tasks, in an efficient and safe manner, as part of a crew to erect precast concrete panels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safe operation of the crane
Coordination of mobilization of the crane
Responsible for efficient and safe transportation of the crane
Responsible for working with the foreperson to efficiently erect precast concrete products
Responsible for safe assembly & disassembly of crane for daily use
Responsible for safely handling precast concrete products
Maintains safety and maintenance logs for the crane as required
Responsible for daily inspections and documentation of the crane as required
Ensures that the crane is kept in good operating condition
Provides work direction to oiler
Basic Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with heavy equipment endorsement
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a crane operator
Certified Crane Operator
Other Required Qualifications:
Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions
Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
Ability to work from heights, including but not limited to ladders and aerial work platforms
Ability to obtain membership to a local union
General knowledge of construction practices
Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
Ability to travel extensively (50% of the time or more, including overnights) and work overtime as needed
Ability to operate the specific type of crane they are assigned to operate
Ability to interpret crane load charts as needed to operate the crane safely
Understands the stability requirements and weight limitations of the machine they are operating
Understands OSHA regulations relevant to the safe operation of a crane
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience operating a crane to set precast concrete products
Physical Requirements:
Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
Work Environments:
Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
