Position Summary
The Crane Operator must be able to operate various types of cranes and boom trucks safely and efficiently. The Operator will act as the job site lead supervising and directing the work of Oilers, Assist Teams, and Signal Persons, and ensuring all company and job site safety protocols are followed. The Operator is responsible for job site safety and ensure that job site analysis and pre-lift inspections are performed. The ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy, work in extreme weather conditions, and operate the crane according to verbal, written, and signal instruction is required for this position.
Responsibilities:Responsible for operation of crane used in heavy lifting and transportReports to Branch Manager, directly supervises Oiler, Assist Team Leader, and Signal PersonsResponsible for personal safety and safety of co-workersShows commitment to safety culture through personal behavior and willingness to influence othersResponsible for slings, cables, straps, and the crane prior to lifting operationsPerform preventative maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of craneSupervise oiling of the craneResponsible for own and Rigger's compliance with company policy, safety guidelines, and procedures that pertain to the crane operator's jobRemains in continual voice (radio), hand, and/or communication with rigger while operating the craneResponsible for creating an environment fostering open communications concerning safety issuesParticipates in safety meetings and other rigger safety programsAssures that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctly riggedAssures that lifting gear is inspected prior to useFollows correct lock-out and tag proceduresOperates crane equipment to hoist materials and equipment in a safe and efficient mannerPerforms tasks assigned by rigger during lifting proceduresCapable of safely and productively operating a man-lift.Requirements
Qualifications:
Knowledge of OSHA Regulations and ANSI Standards in crane operationsProficient in oral and written communication skillsPass drug test, background, and medical checkDaily and monthly equipment inspectionsEducation & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 2 years industry experience1-3 years of rigging and commercial driving experienceLicense & Certification:
Class A CDL with acceptable driving recordValid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordNCCCO or equivalent crane operator certificationRigger/Signalman CertificationsAWP/Forklift CertificationsOSHA 10Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed on various job sites and terrain. Work is normally perform outdoors, and exposure to risk and all weather conditions is associated with this position. The ability to drive at night and in all weather conditions is required. The Operator must maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
