Position Summary
The Truck Driver / Crane Oiler assists the crane operator on job tasks during the operation of the crane and provides rigging operation and hand signals to ensure safe lifting of the load. Loads and secures equipment (spreader bars, mats, counterweights, etc.) then drives truck to location. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicle. Obeys all safety and environmental policies while performing work on the job site.
Duties & Responsibilities:Assists the crane operator in the proper set-up of the equipmentAssists the crane operator in the maintenance of the crane and accessory equipmentUnderstands and performs proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the loadCleans outside and cab of assigned vehicle dailyCleans and inspects equipment in shop and yardControls movements of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spacesDismantles, maintains and stores rigging equipmentManipulate and hoist rigging lines to move or support materials, steel and concreteSelects gears, cables and shackles according to load size, facilities and work scheduleUtilizes proper hand signals to give direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materialsProperly secures equipment to the trailer before operating truckInspects truck and trailer, turns in trucks inspection report daily to the supervisor, reports any mechanical defects and documents maintenance or repairsPrepares all necessary rigging and equipment for next day jobs before ending current shiftAdhere to all company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations creating a safe working environmentOther job duties as assignedRequirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Proficient in oral and written communication skillsPass drug test, background, and medical checkAbility to work nights and weekendsDaily and monthly vehicle inspectionsEducation & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 2 years industry experience1-3 years of rigging and commercial driving experienceLicense & Certification:
Class A CDL with acceptable driving recordValid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordRigger/Signalman CertificationsAWP/Forklift CertificationsOSHA 10Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed on various job sites and terrain. Work is normally perform outdoors, and exposure to risk and all weather conditions is associated with this position. The ability to drive at night and in all weather conditions is required. The Operator must maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. Frequently walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment.
