Will serve as an accounting resource for the organization. Will assist in the preparation and/or review of accounting data for the accurate and compliant preparation of quarterly and annual reports for the SEC. Will prepare accounting memos and lead the compilation of accounting policies to be followed by Finance, Accounting and Reporting ("FAR"), and other groups around the bank. Will assist in monthly the general ledger close process and serve as an accounting/finance liaison for other departments.Job Duties:Responsible for the leadership and management of direct reports. Duties include recruiting, hiring, training, time management (ADP), PTO approval and performance monitoring.Responsible for performance monitoring which includes the preparation and delivery of performance feedback that includes quarterly and annual reviews, developmental actions and disciplinary action.Responsible for training and coaching Accounting staff, as well as an accounting resource for other business lines.Will facilitate team and individual meetings via face to face and virtual.Oversight of general ledger maintenance, including analyzing transactions and reviewing general ledger entries for appropriateness.Responsible for investment securities from an accounting perspective, including the proper accounting treatment of these transactions.Assist with aspects of the monthly close process to ensure an accurate and timely close process.Prepare and/or review accounting data and documentation for the accurate and compliant preparation of quarterly and annual reports for SEC.Identify process improvements, including the creation of automated processes, supporting internal controls and/or financial reporting.Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures with respect to the SEC reporting process and internal controls over financial reporting, including collaborating with internal and external audit functions (as applicable).Ensure that policy/procedural changes are clearly communicated to impacted stakeholders on a proactive and timely basis.May be required to make periodic presentations to senior management or Board of Directors.Will perform special projects as assigned.Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, from an accredited college or university.Possession of professional certification or advanced degree in accounting or finance or related business field that includes accounting or finance. Additional years of work experience in banking may be substituted for certification or advanced degree.Minimum five years of accounting experience in banking or public accounting, with at least four years supervisory experience preferred.Advanced knowledge of accounting principles from either practical work experience or accounting coursework.Ability to help form, lead and develop high-performing teams.Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including intermediate-to-advanced-level Excel skills and intermediate Word skillsAbility to apply advanced accounting concepts and work independently with minimal guidance/supervision.Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.Ability to write clearly and succinctly, with proper grammar in a variety of communication settings and styles as evidenced in SEC filings and other internal/external presentations.Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departmental functions, and with outside third parties.Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-to-one, groups, management, etc.Proven ability to plan and organize resources to achieve goals.Well-developed listening, problem solving and time management skills.Must be composed under pressure and demonstrate ability to effectively handle conflict.Team player.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, from an accredited college or university.Possession of professional certification or advanced degree in accounting or finance or related business field that includes accounting or finance. Additional years of work experience in banking may be substituted for certification or advanced degree.
