SCOPE: We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of compliance regulations and a passion for delivering top-notch products to our customers. The Product Compliance Manager evaluates and assesses all applicable Federal and State Consumer Products Safety regulations and partners with our internal and external teams to ensure that our products meet the regulations by working with testing laboratories, suppliers and XRF analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· As the Product Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that our products meet all Federal and State safety requirements
· Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce compliance policies and procedures to ensure consistent adherence to regulations
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, inventory management, and quality assurance, to ensure compliance standards are met throughout the product lifecycle
· Communicate with external third-party testing labs to conduct product testing ensuring all products meet Federal and State regulations
· Conduct risk assessments and identify potential compliance issues, providing recommendations for corrective action
· Manage and update compliance database in Netsuite and report on product testing status, timeline and results to internal teams
· Support product development and inventory management teams in timing of testing to maintain required production and shipping timelines
· Maintain regulatory compliance records and ensure that records are properly kept, traceable and meet appropriate testing and submission processes
· Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide compliance updates and recommendations
· Investigate and resolve any compliance-related complaints or issues from customers or regulatory agencies
· Monitor and communicate internally and externally, changes and updates in the Federal and State Regulations. Anticipate potential compliance challenges and proactively address them.
· Maintain compliance program SOP for internal reference and to ensure consistency of practice
· Update vendor handbook when regulatory compliance requirements and testing protocols change to ensure suppliers understand and comply with product safety and compliance requirements
· Utilize online resources, government agencies, and selected labs as a source of information on any changes to compliance requirements and testing protocols
· Continuously assess and improve compliance processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
· Train and educate employees on compliance standards and best practices
· Handle all compliance documentation requests
· Provide ad hoc reports and execute tasks related to product compliance as neededQUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a Related Field
· Appropriate level of experience may be considered in lieu of a technical degree
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in product compliance within the home goods, textiles, cosmetics, and toys/baby industries preferably in wholesale or retail
· Expert knowledge of Federal and State product compliance regulatory standards, including CPSC, CPSIA, FDA, ASTM, and Prop 65
· Experience working with domestic and international third-party testing labs
· Understanding of supply chain processes, including sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution
· Analytical, detail oriented, self-starter with excellent project management and follow-up skills
· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information in a concise manner
· Embraces a fast-paced working environment with a high sense of urgency
· Demonstrated ability to make good decisions and exercises sound judgement
· Proficient in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
· Experience working with Netsuite and File Maker a plus
