A Typical Day
The Pennymac technology team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our Customer Data Platform (CDP) team. You will play a critical role in empowering our sales and marketing efforts by managing and optimizing our CDP platform Tealium. You'll be responsible for leading the team in developing and maintaining data pipelines, integrations, and configurations that ensure efficient and accurate customer data collection, processing, and activation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the CDP engineering team.
Platform Management: Oversee the configuration, enhancement, and maintenance of our CDP platform, ensuring its optimal performance and alignment with business needs.
Data Pipeline Development: Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of robust and scalable data pipelines that ingest data from various sources into the CDP.
Integration Management: Manage integrations between the CDP and other internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow and synchronization.
Agile Development: Champion Agile methodologies, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and rapid delivery.
Coding Standards and Documentation: Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and thorough documentation practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, senior management, and other technical teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
Problem-Solving: Act as a point person for technical questions and challenges, providing solutions and guidance to the team and stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Significant experience working with CDP platforms (preferably Tealium).
Experience working with event-driven systems.
Experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
Track record of building and delivering performant cloud-based data pipelines.
Technical Skills:
Deep and thorough understanding of modern Python.
Advanced knowledge of at least one other programming language (multiple preferred).
Experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases (preferably AWS DynamoDB).
Expertise in AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, Kinesis).
Experience with AWS Glue and AppFlow for data pipelines.
Cloud-based security experience (preferably AWS Cognito, Secrets Manager, GuardDuty).
DevOps infrastructure-as-code experience (preferably AWS CDK, SAM).
Strong knowledge of common design patterns and principles, Git workflows, TDD, and BDD.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and feature flags.
Soft Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead and inspire a team.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
