The Global Product Manager, Rental at Xylem Inc. will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of Xylem’s global rental business. This role includes creating a cohesive global ecosystem to significantly expand our rental offerings. Key responsibilities include defining Xylem’s rental value proposition, brand identity, global vision, process simplification, and product-line roadmap. A critical part of this role is to co-lead the creation of regional/country-level fleet strategies with country rental leaders along with an aligned plan for strategy execution and continued governance.
Main Responsibilities:
Product-line Profit and Growth: Drive the profit and growth of Xylem’s global rental business.
Customer Experience Leadership: Define a winning customer experience, including digital interfaces, and align senior management on the required investment. Support execution of the customer experience strategy.
Community of Practice Establishment: Create a community of practice across all rental entities to share customer needs, selling capability, technical knowledge, operational excellence, and regional expansion. Collaborate with Continuous Improvement and regional commercial teams to reduce business complexity and improve operations.
Benchmarking and Roadmap Management: Benchmark Xylem rental against global competition and develop a multi-year roadmap. Support regional commercial teams in creating annual operating plans and investments to meet strategic growth objectives.
Global Performance Monitoring: Create a global dashboard of KPIs and metrics to monitor and manage rental performance. Recommend organizational, operational, and investment changes needed to meet desired efficiency and market growth.
Synergy Identification: Partner with global solutions and services teams to identify and leverage synergies across other product lines and technologies to offer new, differentiated solutions to customers. Foster greater community between sales and business units globally.
Product Portfolio Management: Work with product management and development teams to identify new product offerings and product changes needed for the rental product portfolio.
Internal Communications: Inform colleagues about Xylem Rental initiatives, strategy, commercial wins, and industry presence.
Fleet Strategy: fleet strategy process playbook, ensuring proper execution and governance.
Product Strategy Definition:
Develop a Rental roadmap covering positioning, pathways for scale, and value proposition.
Collaborate with Business Units, Vertical Markets, and Global Product teams to develop global, regional, and local plans.
Own Xylem business processes by developing business cases, product requirements, and understanding customer and market needs.
Specify market requirements, competition, market, and technology trends for current and future products.
Conduct product-related market research, Voice of Customer, customer visits, and close collaboration with local-regional product managers and vertical marketing.
Sales and Profitability:
Understand and provide data to support the S&OP forecast, and support countermeasures if targets are not met.
Monitor sales, orders, and standard margins to reach targets, identify gaps, and implement countermeasures.
Provide strategic pricing guidelines across markets.
Branding:
Ensure the product offering aligns with product brand values.
Engage in thought leadership activities by developing content and presenting.
Develop and validate an appealing value proposition through market research and Voice of Customer.
Collaborate with Communications, Vertical Marketing, and R&D to drive next-generation value propositions.
Leadership & People Development:
Foster a high-impact company culture emphasizing innovation, empowerment, and accountability.
Hire the right team, provide development opportunities, and execute robust succession plans.
Demonstrate superior coaching and mentoring capabilities.
Ensure workforce health and safety.
Develop a customer-centric organization and behavior.
Pursue personal ongoing development.
Key Relationships:
External: Consultants, Contractors, Plant Managers, End Users, Service Workshops, Design Engineers, Directors of Utilities, Distributors, and Developers.
Internal: Operations, R&D, Legal, Finance, Strategy, Regional and Local Product Managers, Communications, Vertical Marketing, Managing Directors, Sales, and Technical/Applications Support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent; a higher degree in Business Administration is preferred.
5 to 10 years of experience in rental and/or industrial equipment environments.
Experience in an international environment within a matrix organization.
Excellent computer, communication, presentation, management, and analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to understand technical issues and their project impacts, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Flexibility to handle changing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
Additional Information:
Location: Must be near a Xylem office. Preferred locations: Bridgeport, NJ; Sarasota, FL; Schaffhausen, CH; Bremen, DE; Dubai, UAE;
Travel: International and domestic travel required (25% on average, up to 50% at times).
Environment: Exposure to field elements at mines, treatment plants, industrial facilities, or contractor sites when traveling.
Salary range:
$127,500.00 - $229,500.00
