About the Columbia Fireflies : The Columbia Fireflies are a part of Hardball Capital which also owns the Chattanooga Lookouts (AA Cincinnati Reds Affiliate) and the Fort Wayne TinCaps (A San Diego Padres Affiliate) The Fireflies began play in the spring of 2016 at Segra Park, in Columbia, South Carolina. The Fireflies are the Single A, Kansas City Royals affiliate of the Carolina League whose season begins in April and concludes at the end of August.
Program Description:The Fireflies internship position(s) will be open to college students and recent college graduates. Interns will be required to work all home games and regular non-game day office hours. Members of the Internship Program will be exposed to all facets of a Minor League Baseball organization and will gain practical, in-depth experience from one of the positions listed below. Hardball Capital believes in hiring from within; many of our current full-time staff members began as interns with one of our clubs. All internships will be provided with a monthly stipend of $1,000.
Video Production Internship:Will report to directly to, and work closely with, the Video Production ManagerNon-Game Day Duties:
Help produce content for the ballpark video board (50' x 25') and online media (ColumbiaFireflies.com and YouTube)Work closely with Video Production Manager and Promotions Manager to produce themed videoboard and social media contentProduce videos as requested by marketing, sales teams, corporate partnerships, etc.Produce weekly homestand highlights videosMaintain Click Effects Audio libraryResponsible for uploading any updating player walk up musicWork closely with Promotions Manager to ensure the upload of themed musicHelp with maintenance/upkeep of all video production equipmentBe available for any special event that requires audio and/or video use
Ability to solely run video elements of special events (Video Board, Camera Ops, etc.)
Required to participate in stadium pre-season preparation/cleanup which may include weekendsOther duties as assignedOther Duties:
Assist in mascot appearances throughout the MidlandsRequired to participate in stadium pre-season preparation/cleanup which may include weekends.Assist in putting the tarp on the field and taking it off (this will happen during the day, at night or early morning depending on the situation).Gameday Duties:
Record video content & take photos during games for promotional use, including fan content, on-field promotions, baseball highlights, fireworks, etc.Work closely with Ticketing & Corporate sales to get in-game video/photo content needed for clients and partnersProduce content, including features and post-game highlightsRun Click Effects in-game when neededRequired to participate in stadium pre-game preparation and assist other departments with pre-game preparation as neededRequired to assist in putting the tarp on the field and taking it off (this will happen during the day, at night or early morning depending on the situation)Assist with MiLB.tv game broadcastAssist with managing production staffOther duties as assignedProgram Knowledge and Skills Required:
Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, Photoshop, After EffectsPanasonic AG-HPX370 (Camera Model used for Project Footage and wireless Broadcast Camera)Ikegami HC-HD300 (Camera Model used for Game Broadcasts)Other Studio Equipment (i.e. Blue Screen, Lights, microphones)'General knowledge of baseballPlease Note: It is not required but encouraged for interested individuals to live within commuting distance or have housing in the Columbia area.
