job summary:
Randstad is currently assisting a manufacturer/distributor/wholesale company with their search for an experienced Controller. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and 9 staff members, ensuring compliance with GAAP principles, and providing accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations and preparing the monthly financial statements. The position reports to the CFO, who will be hiring for his replacement in the near future.

responsibilities:
Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, preparing consolidated and non-consolidated financials for related companies in compliance with GAAP and tax regulations.
Establish and maintain the organizational structure for the department, overseeing billing, AP/AR, payroll, ASC 842 schedules, and cost accounting while improving internal controls to ensure accuracy and mitigate risk.
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget, providing timely feedback to department heads.
Manage payroll, resolve accounting staffing issues, conduct performance evaluations, and enforce accounting controls.
File quarterly business, sales, and use tax returns, manage business license renewals, and address federal and state tax inquiries.
Collaborate with CPA firm on annual corporate tax returns, prepare work papers for auditors, and reconcile financial statements.
Review monthly budgets with department managers, identify trends or discrepancies, and assist with ROI proposals.
qualifications:
Proven leadership and management abilities to maintain team cohesiveness and retain talent.
Bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, accounting, or finance.
2+ years of experience overseeing an Accounting Department and staff is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus
