The 504 coordinator will oversee and ensure that a site is compliant with its responsibilities under Section 504. This position will prevent discrimination against students, staff, and others based on disabilities. The 504 coordinator will guide the site on development and implementation of 504 Plans that align with both State and Federal laws and regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA). QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Education, required Master's Degree in Education, preferred Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certificate, required Experience working with 504 plans, required Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, or able to obtain upon employment. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that ASU Prep is compliant with 504 regulations laid out through ADA. Implement the policies, procedures and practices for the 504 process. Assist with training and professional development around 504 procedures. Schedule and attend all 504 meetings. Design 504 plans for qualified students. Monitor the implementation of 504 plans. Communicate and support parents during the initial creation of the 504 and throughout the lifespan of the 504. Provide teachers with the needed support to assure the 504 accommodations are being met. Schedule and attend annual 504 reviews. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide-range of people including teachers, parents, and students Command of theoretical knowledge of human behavior and learning including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques. Thorough knowledge about and ability to apply understanding of the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. Ability to use instructional adaptive technology tools. Ability to analyze data and communicate the data to community members. Proficiency with technology, computers and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Effective problem solver and self-motivated learner. Strong written and spoken communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Proven written and verbal communication skills.
