Senior Corporate Strategic Sourcing Specialist

to join our

Corporate Procurement Department,

located in

Houston, Texas.

You will have the ability to: lead the execution of transactional procurement tasks such as contract support, RFPs, issuance of POs, order expediting, and troubleshooting invoice holds. The position negotiates work scopes and pricing with vendors and develops contracts using established protocols as defined by the company. Works collaboratively and proactively to identify process improvement opportunities. Serves as a subject matter expert and formally or informally mentors other Procurement Specialists.Essential FunctionsTo be successful in this role you will:Perform SAP transactions and other duties as required by purchasing professionals/staff.Procure standard materials and services from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability, and needComplete bid evaluations, cost analysis, price justification, and risk assessment for suppliers.Create and manage purchase orders and execute RFPs for materials and servicesNegotiate, award, and implement contracts and purchase ordersManage new vendor processesWork with business unit to formulate and define the scope and objective of purchases.Proactively communicate with internal departments and procurement on delays that affect operationsCollaborate with Accounts Payable and Business Units to resolve supplier accounting issuesEnsure proper documentation is provided by suppliers and that all procurement activities adhere to established policies and proceduresDevelop strong working knowledge of all procurement systems and processesProvide expertise to ensure that Service Level Agreements meet the needs of the end-user client area.

ExperienceYour background includes:Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science or other related disciplineWill consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates

EducationMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required in procurement with responsibilities for large, complex negotiations with vendors and a proven record of achieving bottom-line savings for year-over-year sustainable cost reduction.Experience with mentoring of junior procurement specialists and is seen as a leader within the team/organization.Strong Excel skills.Strong knowledge and experience with SAPExperience using Coupa a plus
