Assures compliance with applicable governmental and environmental laws and regulations.Essential FunctionsProvides management oversight and direction for projects, system reliability performance and other department deliverables and assignments.Analyzes budget performance and develops recommendations for actions.Develops various forecasts, project development plans, resource requirements and plans future projects.Provides cost effective designs for system expansion to comply with design standards including voltage profiles, loading criteria, power factor correction and system protection design.Uses appropriate interpersonal and motivational skills to insure and guide others towards accomplishing division goals and completing projects on schedule and within budget.Explores alternative methods and new technologies that can result in cost efficiencies, increased functionality, more efficient designs, or better construction methods.Works across functional boundaries to coordinate associated work performed by other divisions. Acts as a "change agent" in adopting better methods and gaining employee investment.Develops engineering staff to ensure job competency, staff growth, and succession planning.Specifies and/or approves the procurement of major equipment for projects and leverages new technology.
Education DescriptionBachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required.Professional Engineering license in the state of Texas required.ExperienceMinimum of 6 years electric utility or engineering experience.Prefer previous leadership experience either formal or informal.Physical Requirements
Able to certify and use personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis.
Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and common office equipment.
Able to communicate either written and verbal communications either in person or through technical equipment such as telephone.
Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Working ConditionsRequired to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Able to operate a motor vehicle and drive a motor vehicle daily or for extended time periods, in a safe manner.
