The Role

The Material Quality Assurance Manager will lead a team of quality professionals and be responsible for product/process Quality Assurance projects within NNS. The Quality Assurance Manager will create and maintain strategic partnerships with cross-functional leadership to ensure product/process integrity. This position supports non-nuclear work and enterprise-wide processes. The Material Quality Assurance Manager will provide leadership through identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives that support Quality Assurance Engineering’s key performance measurements, vision, and strategy. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to:

Implementation of material control procedures

Leadership of the Level I Non-Nuclear Program Office

Collaborating across enterprise functions to ensure requirements are executed

The Incumbent should have a questioning attitude, a desire to learn and solve problems while working with personnel at all levels and functional areas of the company. Ability to obtain a DoD Clearance.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and certification of work, systems, and hulls

Excellent communication and writing skills

Strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis, and process management (e.g., Process Mapping and FMEA)

Working knowledge of Agile, Knowledge Management, and/or Systems Methodologies

General understanding of EVMS and LRM

Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions, set priorities, manage commitments, and provide succinct direction in a dynamic business environment

Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and influence change
