Hours: Per Departmental Needs – Full Time

Summary:

The Clinical Manager is responsible for the consistent and comprehensive patient care delivery in the ambulatory practice setting. The Clinical Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction, education, and patient confidentiality. The Clinical Manager demonstrates that employee and partner satisfaction is a precursor to patient satisfaction. The Clinical Manager is responsible for continually assessing the clinical care team to ensure quality, compliance with governmental agencies and patient access.

Typical scope for this role is:

10+ = # of staff directly and indirectly managed

15,000+ = # of budgeted annual visits

Complexity Factors (may involve a few of the following factors of practice complexity): multiple practice locations, high practice/facility square footage, service line oversight, coordination of inpatient services, coordination of care across several departments/entities, academic involvement (research initiatives, resident program), special clinical programs, multiple clinical specialties, complex regulatory requirements, management of external partnerships/collaborations.

Responsibilities:

Oversee clinical operations in the practice:

Budgeting/billing practices (where applicable)

Manages and oversees schedules, pay practices, time card review and approval

Clinical project management

Strategic and operational planning

Quality safety and continuous improvement initiatives, and Penn Safety Net Management

Regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, DOH, OSHA)

Maintain a focus on Quality and Safety Priorities including but not limited to the application of a quality improvement framework (FOCUS PDSA), High Reliable Organization principles, and safety event follow-up.

Patient Care: Provides oversight to the team as it relates to the seamless delivery of great quality care and great service using effective processes and tools.

Communication: Fosters an environment where proactive communication and problem-solving are expected. Establishes communication expectations that enable high performance of team and individuals.

Change Management Provides support to entity and practice leadership to proactively develop change management strategies for major organizational and practice activities and events.

Implements change management strategy within the practice in alignment with entity/Penn Medicine objectives.

Communication plans are effectively implemented.

Ensure appropriate follow-up of major clinical/practice issues.

Manage routine and crisis communications through the practice/community as they arise.

Demonstrate recognition of the systemic impact of employee communication and/or policy changes and solicit proactive feedback before implementation.

Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Credentials:

RN with state licensure RN (Required)

BLS/ACLS/PALS per specialty (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor's Degree Nursing And 5+ years Total clinical experience including RN and prior leadership experience. (Required)
