THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI - KANSAS CITYSTRATEGIC MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONSUMKC is looking for a creative, collaborative Marketing Strategist to work with a strategic marketing team to elevate the image and brand of UMKC and its signature programs. This position is responsible for organizing, leading and building UMKC's marketing strategies. Knowledge of CRM and digital strategies is required. This individual will work closely with strategic marketing efforts connected to various campus clients, academic units, and divisions.The ideal candidate would have experience in brand and marketing strategy development; working knowledge of online and digital marketing, solid understanding of marketing principles; demonstrated competency in project management and supervising employees; understanding of strategic communications; and strong knowledge of social media, print and web. Superb skills in relationship management and project management are a must, along with demonstrated leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.Job Description
Develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with key internal accounts, stakeholders and campus leadership, and serve as their primary point of contact with the marketing and communications department.Demonstrate strong people and management skills as well as the ability to work with a wide variety of people to ensure that each group is kept informed and involved in the implementation of marketing plans.Drive the planning and execution of client marketing strategies and campaigns and provide leadership across all areas to align campaigns and marketing targets.Increase public visibility and brand awareness by developing programs and executing strategic partnerships with external organizations and opportunities.Work closely with division colleagues on strategic communications planning, creative projects, web or other.Manage vendors to achieve project goals.Effectively provide strategic support and direction for online and digital marketing efforts.Serve as the brand manager to ensure all project materials contain messaging and visual identity consistent with the school's brand strategy.Demonstrate ability to develop creative ideas in multiple formats and quickly execute and manage content development in those areas to a high level of quality.Demonstrate superb judgment in meeting the goals identified by your direct supervisor and the Vice Chancellor of division.Other duties as assigned.Shift

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.Preferred Qualifications
Passionate, collaborative, highly creative, out of the box thinker, problem solver.At least 3 to 5 years of experienceStrategic thinker and manager of high achieving teams.Ability to manage multiple projects at once, prioritizes accordingly, meet deadlines and remain adaptable in a changing environment.Must have proven ability to work exceptionally well with a variety of people and support client's needs.Experience in writing and editing for print, web and social media.Understanding of AP style and proficient in Microsoft Office.Proven track record of producing high quality print, broadcast and digital media content.Ability to proactively identify communications and marketing opportunities and develop supporting creative.
Anticipated Hiring Range
