Summary:

The Informatics Training Specialist position is responsible for the entry and advanced training of individuals who will be using the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This position will function in a variety of roles ranging from trainer to consultant in providing assistance to system users. Additionally, data analysis, report creation, or other technical duties related to the informatics department can be required.

Essential Functions:

Develop programs that support the training and continued user support of the EHR program.

Conduct in-person or virtual training with new and experienced users to support operational demands and updates.

Assist with data analysis to determine systemic issues related to function and use of the EHR system.

Support the informatics team, responding to requests for service, including after-hours support in an on-call capacity as needed.

Complete reports including both standard and ad hoc per the request of the director or other staff.

Redirect problems to appropriate resources.

Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.

Apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.

Stay current with system information, changes, and updates based on current equipment and software needs.

Appropriately maintain department files.

Assure good communication and coordination exists between CGH and its agencies, vendors, and the general public; provide assistance and support as needed.

Assure EHR functions are followed in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Assume ownership of user issues and strive to provide excellent services to all staff.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor level degree in Healthcare Informatics, Nursing, computer science or related field preferred.

Previous experience in Information Technology, particularly informatics preferred.

Experience in consulting, adult education, or virtual training preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Intermediate/Advanced experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems ( required )

Cerner experience ( preferred)

Skill in program development and instruction.

Skill in identifying trends in departments/programs and determining training impacts.

Skill in developing cost-effective programs and facilitating cutting-edge training methods used by up-to-date training specialists.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.

Ability to travel to all geographically separated locations.

Ability to view and work with computers for long periods.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.

Reporting Relationship:

Informatics Director

Physical Requirements:

Involves sitting approximately 70 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder and during training programs.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
