Responsibilities
Basic PurposeSupports the transmission engineering function in regards to system design, project management, and project work while interfacing with various teams in Power Systems Engineering.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms engineering activities for transmission lines and substations, and interfaces with contractors for engineering and project management duties.Reviews project design documents in conjunction with Guides and Standards and standard utility practices.Manages transmission outage data and correlates with other sources of data using Excel and other tools.Reports, archives, records, and documents the data and drawings associated with asset management.Manages multiple databases and assesses data using SQL.Participates in the North American Transmission Forum (NATF).Coordinates and manages NERC, FERC, and RTO/ISO criteria and documents.Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.Performs related duties as assigned.Requirements
Essential Education, Skills, and EnvironmentEducation and Work ExperienceBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited school.
Five years of experience in transmission systems including substations as a licensed professional engineer.
If not a licensed professional, must have eight or more years of experience performing work in an engineering capacity, with five years being in transmission systems including substations.Specialized Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge of Electric Transmission Line, Protective Relays, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, controls, alarms, and other substation equipment.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proven written & verbal communication skills.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills.
Adaptable and results-oriented.Equipment and ApplicationsPCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment.
No special physical demands required.Compensation
Annual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.Benefits
