Join our dynamic team as a Java Application Engineer, where you'll play a key role in managing and supporting document output and contract management systems for group insurance products. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, leverage modern technologies like Java, REST web services, and Hibernate, and contribute to both legacy system maintenance and new feature development. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:Estimated Salary: $95,000 - $110,000, plus annual bonus opportunityBenefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:Develop, maintain, and support applications for managing contracts, sales, renewals, and compliance documents within the group insurance space, ensuring integration between GSAP and xPressions environments.Lead contract refresh projects, maintaining compliance with evolving state requirements and ensuring accuracy across group insurance products (dental, vision, voluntary disability, and voluntary life).Split time between maintaining system, developing new features, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported issues during business hours, participating in an on-call rotation with minimal disruptions.Apply software engineering and test automation practices using technologies such as Java, XML, XSLT, REST web services, Hibernate, and backend databases, while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience and user satisfaction.
WHAT YOULL BRING:3 or more years of professional development experience, proficiency in Java (1.8+), REST web services, XML, XSLT, Groovy, JSON, and related frameworks such as Hibernate, with experience using IDEs like Eclipse and IntelliJ.Experience working with backend databases (e.g., DB2 or similar) and understanding of software integration, particularly in document output and management systems.Familiarity with automation testing frameworks (JUnit, Spock, Mockito) and version control systems (BitBucket, GitHub) to ensure high-quality code delivery.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment and participate in on-call support rotations.You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico
PREFERRED:Prior experience in the insurance industry, with knowledge of group insurance products such as dental, vision, voluntary disability, or voluntary life insurance, and the ability to understand compliance and contract requirements.
