Primary Purpose and GeneralResponsibilities:
The SQL Programmer/Data Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day development andmaintenance of data structures and queries for the electronic researchadministration systems.They willdevelop databases, tables, views, stored procedures and any other databasestructure in support of the data reporting and analytics for the OVPRI.They will also develop database integrationsbetween the research administration system and other external data destinations,like ODS, SOM data warehouse, etc.Finally, the data manager will monitor and optimize query performanceand access control.
Typical Duties:
Maintainreporting database environmentCreate and augment tables, reporting views, and storedprocedures toCreate and maintain integrations with other systemsMonitor and optimize application query performanceMaintain database access controlCreate datasets to support Tableau visualizationsWrite ad hoc SQL queriesMonitor and optimize application queryperformance
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Database developmentexperienceQuery developmentusing SQL Server Management StudioKnowledge of ETL anddata manipulations languagesProblem solvingskillsGood verbal andwritten communication skillsThe candidate should have demonstrated experience working inand fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitmentto do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications: SQL development using SQL ServerETL tool usage using SSISReporting or visualization tool usage using either SSRS or Tableau
