Building Maintenance Technician/Electrician

The Town of Longmeadow, MA DPW is seeking qualified applicants for the FT positions of Building Maintenances Technician/Electrician. Position is responsible for skilled electrical work at the journeyman level and other maintenance work as assigned.
Successful candidate must have:
Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of facility maintenance and working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to electrical maintenance and repair activities. Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern electrical repair and maintenance.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to meet deadlines and project timetables. Ability to work independently. Ability to plan work schedule to coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills. Strong skill in operating tools and equipment.
Associates degree or journeyman level in the trades or licenses, and 3 to 5 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable codes, policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties.
Must have and obtain valid driver’s license; valid Massachusetts journeyman / E-2 electrical license. Must be able to pass a CORI check.
Required to be on call as needed to respond to emergencies
Salary $27.59- $29.28 per hour DOE/DOQ; excellent benefits.
