Water Technician

The Town of Longmeadow, MA DPW is seeking qualified applicants for the FT positions of Water Technician. Position is responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater pump stations, equipment,
water quality testing; meter reading; application of water quality chemicals; maintenance and repair of distribution and collection lines; and other assignments, as necessary.
Successful candidate must have:
Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Working knowledge of all regulations, methods, and equipment necessary to develop, protect, and test water and wastewater systems. Full working knowledge of water quality and resource concepts, practices, and technologies. Full working knowledge of water quality regulations and reporting.
Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to anticipate problems with planned assignments and provide solutions. Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft and Google Suites.
Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and Attention to detail.
High school diploma or equivalent, and 1 to 3 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. D3 and T1 treatment license. Current valid motor vehicle license.
Required to be on call as needed to respond to emergencies
Salary $25.48- $27.04 per hour DOE/DOQ; excellent benefits.
