The IGI's diverse group of leading scientists conduct world-class research, driven by the real possibility of using genome engineering to treat human diseases, end hunger, and respond to climate change.Position SummaryThe IGI envisions a world in which genome-engineering innovations benefit humanity and are accessible to all. The Institute's mission is to accelerate genome discovery and translation of resulting technologies to improve human health and sustainable agriculture.The IGI is looking for a highly talented and motivated leader to run an innovative and cohesive Public Impact program. This role requires independence; strong leadership and management skills; and interaction with industry, government, and non-profit organizations.Application Review DateThe First Review Date for this job is: 11/13/2024.ResponsibilitiesImplements research projects across a public impact portfolio.Engages impacted stakeholders on genome editing technology.Performs social science research to integrate improved access, affordability, and scaling into IGI's genomics-oriented research.Coordinates a holistic approach to developing genome editing applications.Writes research manuscripts and annual reports for donors and sponsors.Required QualificationsKnowledge of the public engagement of science landscape.Ability to lead and motivate a team.Experience leading large-scale strategic planning efforts.Proven track record of raising funds.Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in related science, social science, or public policy.Minimum of ten years of experience in a relevant professional area.Salary & BenefitsThis is a full-time exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits.
