Please review the following job description:The Head of Cloud Governance is responsible for establishing and overseeing the governance framework for all cloud-related activities across the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that the company’s cloud infrastructure aligns with industry regulations, internal policies, and best practices. The successful candidate will drive the cloud governance strategy, implement policies, and monitor compliance to safeguard data, optimize cloud operations, and mitigate risks.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

Governance Strategy & Framework Development

Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud governance strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall IT and business goals.

Establish and maintain cloud governance policies, standards, and guidelines for cloud architecture, deployment, security, and operations.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including FDIC, FRB, and FFIEC guidelines, particularly in the financial services sector.

Policy Implementation & Compliance

Lead the implementation of governance policies across multi-cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.

Monitor compliance with established cloud policies and ensure that all cloud services meet regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Work with security, legal, and risk management teams to ensure data protection, privacy, and risk mitigation in cloud environments.

Cloud Risk Management

Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with cloud services, including data security, operational resilience, and third-party risk.

Develop and enforce policies around cloud service usage, access control, and data management.

Establish processes for incident response and recovery related to cloud operations.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate with IT, security, legal, and business teams to ensure that cloud governance policies support business objectives while maintaining security and compliance.

Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on cloud governance matters, providing regular updates on compliance status, risks, and improvements.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in cloud computing to continually improve the cloud governance framework.

Implement automation tools and processes to enhance governance, compliance monitoring, and risk management in cloud environments.

Drive initiatives to improve cloud cost management and operational efficiency through effective governance.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor a team of cloud governance specialists and analysts, fostering a culture of compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Develop training programs to ensure that all relevant stakeholders understand and adhere to cloud governance policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and ten to twenty-five years related experience or equivalent combination.

Managed Technology or Technology Process Teams for more than ten years or teams of thirty or more technologists.

Excellent knowledge of technical management and data governance.

Knowledge of current trends in IT hardware and systems software field.

Database management skills with the ability to produce reports.

Familiarity with the support and troubleshooting of personal computers and tablet devices.

Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement robust solutions.

Interpret guidelines and analyze information to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances.

Duties may require non-routine analysis, research and follow-through.

The position requires strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

The ability to make commitments and be willing to be held accountable against them, organizing workloads to meet deadlines.

Exhibit adaptability to accept or bring about change when needed.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to excel in a team environment and advance overall team objectives.

Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors and assisting with budget development.

Purchase equipment and supplies as provided for in the budget.

Ability to manage personnel with little supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud governance, security, or compliance roles.

Extensive experience with multi-cloud environments, particularly AWS and Azure.

Proven track record of developing and implementing governance frameworks in regulated industries, preferably within financial services.

Deep understanding of cloud technologies, architectures, and services.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements such as FDIC, FRB, FFIEC etc.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or similar are highly desirable.
