Forensic Scientist IAs required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States.As a versatile professional, this function as a DNA Technician and/or Evidence Custodian, conducting investigative studies on biological materials using DNA typing technologies. Support routine casework and special projects, ensuring accurate chain of custody in the Laboratory Information Management System. This role includes preparing reagents, maintaining documentation, and participating in validation and research projects to enhance sensitivity, discrimination power, and automation in DNA profiling. Additionally, contribute to educational activities and perform administrative tasks such as data entry and report preparation.Compensation & Benefits:Pay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Forensic Scientist I Responsibilities Include:Conduct DNA typing casework on biological materials, supporting routine casework and special projects.Perform duties as an Evidence Custodian, ensuring accurate chain of custody for forensic evidence.Assist in program maintenance and development under the direction of the designated supervisor.Support logistical and resource management activities of the DNA Registry.Participate in organizing and presenting educational activities, contributing to knowledge dissemination.Accession forensic evidence in the Laboratory Information Management System (LISA).Responsible for accurate data entry into LISA and AFMETS, and preparation and editing of reports regarding case status and tracking.Prepare correspondence and documents, ensuring proper format, mathematical correctness, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.Prepare reagents and maintain documentation of reagent preparation and Quality Control testing following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Perform laboratory housekeeping activities, including preparing common laboratory reagents, maintaining stock levels of expendable supplies, and ensuring a clean work environment.Engage in service casework involving nucDNA and mtDNA typing and profiling procedures.Support validation projects focused on systems with increased sensitivity and discrimination power, as well as advanced development of automated systems.Contribute to research projects, including population data basing and efforts to enhance sensitivity, discrimination power, and automation in casework applications.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Forensic Scientist I Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:A bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.Typically, 0-2 years of relevant experience, making it an entry-level position.Basic laboratory skills and knowledge of forensic analysis techniques.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evidence examination.Effective verbal and written communication skills for case documentation and reporting.Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in analysis and documentation.Competence in using forensic analysis software and standard office applications.Adherence to ethical standards and maintaining the integrity of evidence.Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.Ability to work collaboratively with other forensic scientists and law enforcement personnel.Understanding of legal procedures related to evidence collection and analysis.Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and stay updated on forensic science advancements.Ability to work independently and take initiative in case analysis.Relevant certifications in forensic science may be advantageous.Previous internships or training in forensic science or a related field is beneficial.Assistance in casework and evidence analysis under the supervision of senior forensic scientists.Exposure to courtroom procedures and testimony, even if minimal.Familiarity with and adherence to forensic protocols and standard operating procedures.Basic knowledge of proper evidence handling and preservation techniques.Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including law enforcement and legal professionals.Potential involvement in research projects or studies within the forensic science field.Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.Company Information:Cherokee Nation Integrated Health (CNIH)
